Modern AI translation engines handle a first-pass for all three with quality that is acceptable for high-resource languages (Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Arabic) and adequate for medium-resource languages (Telugu, Tamil, Swahili, Bahasa). Subject-matter expert review is still required for technical correctness — particularly law, medicine, accounting, and engineering content.

Translation swaps the words. Localisation also adapts examples, currency, units, references, holidays, and cultural framing. A statistics course localised for India uses INR examples and references the National Statistical Office; the same course localised for the UAE uses AED and references the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre.
