DigiLocker Integration for LMS

Also known as: DigiLocker, DigiLocker certificate, DigiLocker LMS integration

DigiLocker is India's government-operated document wallet. LMS platforms registered as DigiLocker issuers can push degree certificates, mark sheets, and course-completion credentials directly into a learner's DigiLocker — making them permanently accessible and government-verified.

DigiLocker (digilocker.gov.in) is operated by MeitY and connected to Aadhaar. Over 250 million+ documents are already stored there. For a university LMS, DigiLocker integration means the institution can issue degree certificates and transcripts that appear automatically in the learner's locker without manual download/upload — and can be presented to employers or other institutions who pull them directly from the government source.

Becoming a DigiLocker issuer

Institutions apply to MeitY to become an Issuer Organisation. Once approved, they receive API credentials to push documents. The LMS generates the document, signs it with the institutional key, and calls the issuer API — the document appears in the learner's locker within seconds.
